Feel Britannia: Holly Fulton
SERIES: We ask fashion designer Holly Fulton "What makes you feel emotional about Britain?"
With all the rhetoric and Big Ideas surrounding the general election, Culture Whisper wanted to collect some of the little things that spark emotions about Britain.
In anticipation of May 7, we asked our favourite figures in the arts to tell us what makes Britain feel like home.
Fashion designer Holly Fulton:
"Jane Austen, I love a period drama. Tastes and flavours of the countryside: blackberries, rhubarb, pie and mash; indulging in afternoon tea with the correct china and etiquette; Trellick Tower, the much derided movements of modern architecture; The Proclaimers; the way the British cut their lawns in a linear fashion, in no other country in the world would people be that obsessive."
Scottish womenswear and accessories designer Holly Fulton has won numerous awards, and has exhibited at the V&A and London Fashion Week since 2012. Her label is currently stocked in over 15 countries worldwide.
