Feel Britannia: Colin Currie
SERIES: We ask percussionist Colin Currie "What makes you feel emotional about Britain?"
With all the rhetoric and Big Ideas surrounding the general election, Culture Whisper wanted to collect some of the little things that spark emotions about Britain.
In anticipation of May 7, we asked our favourite figures in the arts to tell us what makes Britain feel like home.
Colin Currie, Percussionist:
"Shakespeare. The timeless nature of the predicaments faced by his characters, the striking modernity of the prose and the dignity in the telling. Nothing chills nor melts me quite like The Bard."
Colin Currie is a leading percussionist who performs regularly with many preeminent orchestras and conductors around the world. He has been a central figure in festivals hosted by the Southbank Centre and is head of the Colin Currie Group.
