Nigella Lawson on The Meaning of Food
Nigella Lawson, School of Life with Alain de Botton on Food Life and Literature.
Nigella Lawson, chef, household name and (perhaps lesser-known) literary critic, is spending an evening discussing her thoughts on the significance of food in the contemporary world, both in the home and in the professional world, as well as engaging in some literary musings (and revealing some of her other passions).
The controversial British chef is staunchly loved by her readers and has become immensely popular not only through her books (How to Eat, How to Be a Domestic Goddess) but also in her BBC cookery productions (Nigella Feasts, Nigellisima). Her enthusiasm for food is infectious and the evening will no doubt prove equally enjoyable for amateur and experienced cooks alike, as well as for those who have an interest in the infrequently examined relationship between food and literature.
Nigella will be leading the evening alongside Alain de Botton, philosopher and writer of essayistic books on a range of topics, from love to travel, to literature. He is also the founder and Chairman of The School of Life, who are hosting the event - an institution dedicated to the development of emotional intelligence through cultural stimulation.
Those who attend the event will receive a 'Homework' assignment in a special booklet from Nigella, as well as a unique recipe from the School. Nigella will sign books after the event. Not one to be missed by foodies!
