Soundtracks for autumn: Our Spotify playlist will keep you up to date
The change of season calls for a change of music. We've picked the best tunes for autumn and put them together in a handy Spotify playlist
Summer may be waning; but not to worry - London's culture comes alive in Autumn. There's an especially wonderful crop of music to harvest: gigs, new albums, festivals and collaborations.
Whether you're into London Jazz Festival in November - love a bit of Grace Jones or simply want to wallow in malaise with The Cure - these are the songs to soundtrack your life as the leaves begin to fall.
Jack White, everyone's favourite White Stripe, is back with a two-disc collection of acoustic recordings - his modern bluesy Yank swagger is second to none.
We're so excited about London's first ever Afropunk Fest - an NYC import, which comes to Alexandra Palace on September 24. Celebrating diversity in music and championing diversity, this inaugural London edition is going to be fantastic. Grace Jones headlines (FABULOUS), while you'll also stumble upon the likes of Laura Mvula, Kwabs, the Noisettes, Loyle Carner, Lady Leshurr (who is incredible) and the knee-quiveringly gorgeous Ben Booker .
The Mercury Prize is coming up - the Oscars of the music world, and it's a good crop this year. The late David Bowie is sure to win, for his swan-song album Blackstar. the record was released just days before he died of cancer in January. It's a heartbreaker. Other nominees to look out for are Laura Mvula, ANOHNI of Anthony and the Johnsons, electro-smoothie Jamie Woon and the astonishing female punk quartet Savages.
You'll find all this and much more on our playlist.
