Fresh from bagging three awards and a feast of five star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe, The Fall comes to London’s Royal Court Theatre

On the 9th April 2015, after a long-fought campaign, a contentious monument was removed from the University of Cape Town campus in South Africa.
This was an historic victory for the student-led Rhodes Must Fall campaign, which sought to remove the statue of 19th Century diamond magnate and staunch imperialist, Cecil Rhodes. The former Cape Town president's symbolic fall inspired further movements to ‘decolonise’ institutions and public spaces from Oxford University to Charlottesville.
In the invitingly small space of the Royal Court upstairs theatre, audiences can hope for a captivating insight into the experience of black students behind The Fall of the statue, as the critically acclaimed play comes to London. A boldly relevant piece of ‘workshop theatre’, written by seven drama students in their last year at the University of Cape Town, The Fall unfolds their individual yet overlapping experiences resisting discrimination.
