The Passion of Jesus, Trafalgar Square

See the Easter story performed by a cast of 100 in the Passion Plays in Trafalgar Square for free this Good Friday

The Transfiguration of Christ by Raphael
Theatre troupe the Wintershall Players bring their full-scale re-enactment of The Passion of Jesus to Trafalgar Square this Easter. On Good Friday (14 April), the brutal, bloody tale of Jesus' betrayal and crucifixion, then his miraculous rise from the dead will be brought to life with full theatrical flourish, more than 100 actors with grand costumes and even a flapping, braying cast of real life donkeys and doves.

Since the first West End performance in 2010, The Passion Play at Trafalgar Square has become a highlight of Easter in London. The sheer scale of the free performance makes it an absorbing spectacle.

Last year more than 20,000 people flocked to watch this free performance, so if you want a good spot, turn up early and bring a picnic.

There are two shows: one at noon and another at 3:15pm. Admission is free and non-ticketed, so prepare for crowds.
