Motown the Musical, Shaftesbury Theatre

After rocking Broadway, there's a West End transfer for Motown the Musical. London is set for a soulful spring in 2016

Broadway show Motown The Musical comes to London
Musical about Motown Records' history
Mega music company Motown Records made musical history. A key player in the racial integration of popular music, the label boasted its own trademark 'Motown soul sound' with artists such as Michael Jackson, Diana Ross and Stevie Wonder on their books. The iconic institution is now being celebrated on the West End with the transfer of Broadway hit Motown the Musical.

The musical is based on the 1994 memoirs of Motown Records founder Berry Gordy. As the record label celebrates its 25th anniversary, stars begin to gather and a series of flashbacks reveal how Motown became a global phenomenon.

Jukebox musicals are rarely renowned for their plot (with the possible exception of Mamma Mia), but with songs such as 'I Heard it Through the Grapevine', 'Dancing in the Street' and 'My Girl', we defy anyone to see Motown the Musical and not find themselves singing along.
