Miss Havisham’s Expectations, Trafalgar Studios

Part of Trafalgar Studios’s Dickens with a Difference season, one woman show Miss Havisham’s Expectations comes to the venue this winter.

Linda Marlowe (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Borgias) is taking on this infamous role; trapped in the moment of her bridal jilting, still wearing her wedding dress and surrounded by the dusty remnants of her lost youthful happiness, she charts the events of Great Expectations from Miss Havisham's perspective, using text from the novel alongside Dickensian biographical material.
Writer and director Di Sherlock is herself an actress with a background in physical theatre, suggesting that her creative vision of Miss Havisham will be an all encompassing one, with physicality and non-verbal storytelling playing a large role in the creation of this iconic woman.
Miss Havisham’s Expectations gained strong reviews during its outing at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe, and we are very pleased that this brave and unique piece of theatre is getting a second outing.
