The Lady's Not for Walking Like an Egyptian

Children of the Eighties Rachel Mars and nat tarrab are dragging theatregoers back to the decade of shoulder pads, legwarmers and the Iron Lady in their latest collaborative show. 

The Lady’s Not for Walking Like an Egyptian was originally developed as part of the Ovalhouse’s 50th anniversary season earlier this year, just weeks before the death of Margaret Thatcher. Now it is back and rebooted in the wake of Maggie’s death, promising a riotous journey through the politics and pop culture of the 1980s.

Ovalhouse, situated just around the corner from Oval cricket ground, has a long history of political theatre and has been home to experimental forms of performance ever since the 1960s. The Lady’s Not for Walking Like an Egyptian stays true to Ovalhouse’s radical legacy, but serves its politics with a large side dish of irreverence, pop and neon Lycra.
