The Distance, Orange Tree Theatre

After a sellout premiere, The Distance by Deborah Bruce returns to the Orange Tree Theatre to ask what it takes to maintain relationships with both lovers and friends

Orange Tree Theatre: The Distance returns for 2015

After impressing critics for a sold out run in 2014, Deborah Bruce's play The Distance returns to Richmond's The Orange Tree Theatre for another run this autumn.
Exploring the strains that friendships suffer, the play follows Bea as she returns home after a five year absence to find old friends that are struggling to accept her new choices. Sharp, funny and pacy, Deborah Bruce's writing makes this relationship drama feel vivid and resonant.
Taking the directorial reins is Charlotte Gwinner, a regular feature of regional and fringe theatre and winner of the 2013 Quercus Award. The original production was given some star-power by Friends and Cold Feet actor Helen Baxendale. But this re-run will feature a mostly new cast, which is yet to be announced.
