Where do Little Birds Go? review: Culture Whisper says ★★★★★

Having impressed at Camden Fringe, the Vaults Festival and after selling out at the Edinburgh Fringe, Where do Little Birds Go? is now showing at The Old Red Lion in November 2016.

The thoughtful one-woman show garnered particular praise for the writing and central performance. It tells the story of a young woman, Lucy Fuller, who ventures to London in the 1960s full of bright-eyed optimism; however after getting a job in a pub she catches the eye of the Kray brothers , is kidnapped by these lords of organised crime, and locked in a flat with an escaped axe-murderer.
The shadowy gangster world of rainy spotlit streets, clandestine meetings and furtive exchanges, is familiar to any fan of Graham Greene's novels or film noir, but these genres rarely give us a woman's perspective. The director, Sarah Meadows, tells us media coverage of this true story only described the girl as 'petite and shapely'. The writing of this show questions such perspectives with razor-sharp clarity, equally funny and hugely sinister. Don't miss this intimate and thought-provoking one-woman show with magnificent storytelling in the heart of the buzzing fringe theatre scene.
