The Seagull, St James Theatre

Esteemed actors Ian McKellen and Trudie Styler return to Chekhov for a special one-off reading of The Seagull at the St James Theatre. The classic Russian exploration of creative and romantic conflict, translated by Irish novelist and playwright Thomas Kilroy and directed by Out of Joint founder Max Stafford Clark , enjoyed a successful run  in 1981 and recent revival in New York.  This one off return to the script is the culmination of a season of readings of the works of Out of Joint Theatre Company to accompany their new play This May Hurt a Bit.  T he proceeds will go funding the theatre company.

Performing alongside McKellen and Styler (both of whom have starred in The Seagull before to much acclaim, at the RSC and on Broadway respectively), are Stella Feehily - writer of This May Hurt a Bit and wife of Max Stafford Clarke - and Lloyd Hutchinson, a familiar face from both screen and stage.

With tickets for the event including a drinks reception, this is a uniquely intimate evening of theatre with a touch of class.
