Peter Pan Goes Wrong: on BBC1 and in the Apollo Theatre, Christmas 2016
The unmissable West End show by Mischief Theatre on in the Apollo Theatre and on BBC1 over Christmas: Peter Pan Goes Wrong
Since the eye-wateringly funny The Play that Goes Wrong arrived in London's West End, the Olivier-award winning theatre company behind it has gone from strength to strength. Mischief Theatre's five-star spin-off show, Comedy About a Bank Robbery garnered rave-reviews and had us weeping with joy.
This winter, Mischief Theatre return with their hit play Peter Pan Goes Wrong on in Apollo Theatre. For those who can't get into London for October half term fear not: Peter Pan Goes Wrong will also be broadcast on BBC1 over Christmas, which means that Mischief Theatre will have thee shows running in the West End concurrently, and one on television. Not bad.
This is the ridiculous, calamitous story of The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society, who attempt to stage a performance of JM Barrie's classic children's story, with disastrous results. Peter Pan must fly through the air, Captain Hook and his pirates must sale across the lagoon, Tinkerbell must light up the stage in a beautiful luminous costume. Easy peasy. No need to panic.
Co-written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, expect lots of physical comedy, slapstick, seamless timings, a thousand misunderstandings, chaos, technical hitches, flying confusions and cast arguments that result in a play that might - literally - bring the house down.
The BBC1 show will be filmed in front of a live audience at Pinewood Studios and broadcast in December.
Suitable for ages 8+
