The ordinary lives of ordinary people living in a small American town – it does not exactly sound like the most riveting theme in the world. However, Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play Our Town focuses on exactly that, while managing to capture the attention and the mind of the viewer for long after the play has ended.

Hansel and Gretel

Into the woods they go, little Hansel and Gretel, to pick berries for the family supper. It sounds idyllic, but the adventure quickly turns into something more sinister in the classic German opera Hansel and Gretel.

The classic fairytale is sung in English by the ENO.

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Nothing says summer more than picnic, Pimm’s and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Regent’s Park Outdoor Theatre is bringing Shakespeare’s comedy back into its programme after a seven-year break. With mistaken identity, meta-theatre, magic and, of course, marriage it's set to be an enchanting experience for all the family.

Evita

The Open Air Theatre's annual musical has become a highlight of the summer season, with a reputation for rousing revivals of recent classics. Evita, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd-Webber's 1978 hit, tells the life-story of Evita Peron, who rose from poverty to become the First Lady and spiritual leader of Argentina. At once the voice of the poor, and glamorous film star, she was loved in Buenos Aires and around the world.
