An all-female Posh, Pleasance Theatre

Hold on to your seat as Laura Wade's 2010 smash Posh gets a gender-bending makeover – and there's not a smug Kit Harington in sight

An all-female Posh, Pleasance Theatre
Notorious Oxford University dining society The Bullingdon Club has been inspiring writers of fiction for decades – and most recently, playwright Laura Wade’s Posh got pulses racing when it premiered at the Royal Court in 2010. The play, focusing on the fictitious Riot Club, was so successful that it was made into a feature-length film in 2014, The Riot Club.

Following the debauchery of a group of wealthy, mostly male Oxford student club members and their raucous evening in the back room of a local family pub, the narrative is being turned on its head to examine the nature of privilege from the other side.

Originally led by Game of Thrones star Hannah Murray, who had to drop out for personal reasons, the all-female cast will take to the stage at The Pleasance Theatre in North London.

Choosing an all-female cast is a poignant move, drawing attention to the glaring inequalities that minorities in the upper echelons of society face. Misogyny is a potent thread in the narrative, and we look forward to seeing how the issues play out in an all-female production.

Directed by off-West End award winner Cressida Carré and produced by the Can’t Think Theatre Company, Posh will run at The Pleasance from 29 March.
