Whatever your view on the immigration debate, Glasgow Girls is bound to get you thinking. The hit musical, which was met with rave reviews when it played at Theatre Royal Stratford East in 2013, is returning to London due to popular demand.

This lively show-with-songs tells the story of seven teenage girls whose lives change forever when a school friend and her asylum-seeking family are forcibly taken from their home to be deported. It highlights issues including the injustices of the UK asylum system and the meaning of community. Director Cora Bissett is no stranger to heavy subject matter: her 2015 production, Rites, explored the practice of female genital mutilation.

The show has just finished a two-week run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where its punchy songs and innovative staging garnered glowing praise. Book fast to see Glasgow Girls while in the (affordable) intimacy of Theatre Royal Stratford East. We wouldn't be surprised if this new musical ends up on the West End.
