Barnum, Menier Chocolate Factory
The musical life story of Broadway showman P. T. Barnum comes comes to the Menier Chocolate Factory with circus and songs
The multi-award-winning musical about the Greatest Showman on Earth, Phineas Taylor Barnum comes to London's Off-West End theatre, The Menier Chocolate Factory, this winter.
This 1980 show has music by Cy Coleman (Sweet Charity), a book by Mark Bramble, and lyrics by Michael Stewart. It was a hit on Broadway, playing over 800 shows. It came to the London Palladium in 1981 before touring the UK and being broadcast on the BBC in 1986.
Now, the show returns in a new Off-West End production at the Menier Chocolate Factory. We travel back to America in the late 1800s as circus skills, sideshow acts, and razzle-dazzle all come together in the story of P.T. Barnum. He wants to bring together outsiders and misfits to make The Greatest Show on Earth, featuring juggling, trapeze, clowning and musical theatre.
It's a big spectacle for a small theatre, so roll up, roll up and get up close to all the acts.
