Wars Without End? Join The Wall Street Journal for an evening on the Middle East

Yaroslav Trofimov, The Wall Street Journal’s Middle East columnist will be joined by Christina Lamb, OBE, chief foreign correspondent of The Sunday Times, for a conversation on our current political state of play, and a theoretical exploration of what could happen next in the Middle East.

Trofimov is an award-winning author and journalist who writes a weekly column on the Greater Middle East – Middle East Crossroads – in The Wall Street Journal. He has been a foreign correspondent for The Wall Street Journal since 1999, covering the Middle East, Africa and Asia. As part of a team he was named a 2017 Pulitzer Prize finalist for "clear and persistent coverage that shaped the world’s understanding of dramatic events in Turkey as that nation careened from a promising democracy to a near-autocracy." He is the author of two books, “Faith at War” (2005) and “Siege of Mecca” (2007).

Trofimov is joined in conversation with Lamb, one of Britain’s leading foreign correspondents and a bestselling author. Two years after she moved to Peshawar to cover the mujahedeen fighting the Soviet Union she was named Young Journalist of the Year. Since then she has won 14 major awards including five times being named Foreign Correspondent of the Year and Europe’s top war reporting prize, the Prix Bayeux and was made an OBE by Queen Elizabeth II in 2013. In 2016 she won the Foreign Press Association award for Feature of the Year for reporting on the Chibok schoolgirls in Nigeria and in 2015 Amnesty International’s Newspaper Journalist of the Year for reporting from inside Libyan detention centers. She has written eight books including the bestselling "The Africa House" and "I Am Malala". Her latest book is “The Girl from Aleppo; Nujeen’s Escape from War to Freedom,” first published last year.
