For every brilliant dancer and singer in the limelight on stage at the Royal Opera House, there is a veritable army of hidden talent working hard backstage.

Marking International Women's Day on 8 March, five evenings with the pick of these unsung heroines of opera and ballet explain some of the secrets of their trade, from spotting and developing new artists to sewing their costumes.

Over five evenings, a number of inspirational women will explain what makes the Royal Opera House tick. They include head of costume Fay Fullerton, senior stage manager Johanna Adams Farley, and head of the Jette Parker young artists programme Elaine Kidd.
