Abi Morgan and others discuss the future of modern feminism
In recent years, Feminism has come to occupy an increasingly
central role in public debate. But while we might be more conscious of gender
inequality, significant injustices persist. From the pay gap to reproductive
rights, a bevy of challenges are yet to be overcome. On December 10, Guardian Live
host ‘The New F Word’ at The National Theatre; chaired by BBC Womens’ Hour’s
Jane Garvey, the evening will seek answers to modern feminism’s most urgent
questions.
Abi Morgan is an accomplished playwright and screenwriter, who recently penned the script for Suffragette: the resonant story of women’s rights campaigners at the turn of the twentieth century. She is joined on stage by Guardian columnists June Eric Udorie, a sixteen year old student and leading voice for young feminists, and Kira Cochrane, the acting editor of the publication’s ‘Comment Is Free’ section.’ Also on the bill are the broadcaster Julia Hartley-Brewer and Sophie Walker, leader of the Women’s Equality Party, a new voice in British politics.
