P. G. Wodehouse: Poetry and Songs, Kings Place

He created arguably the greatest comedy duo in all of English literature – the feckless toff Bertie Wooster and his Gentleman’s Personal Gentleman, Jeeves. We all know that no matter what farcical scrape Bertie gets himself into – be it inadvertently contracting an engagement to the insufferably wet Madeleine Bassett or stealing a cow creamer for his Aunt Dahlia – Jeeves’s stupendous brain always saves the day. What is less well known is that P. G. Wodehouse was also something of a lyricist.

Inspired by a new anthology of his verse and songs, What Goes Around Comes Around, Poet in the City and the P. G. Wodehouse Society are joining forces to celebrate all things Wodehousian in an evening of live readings, song performances and discussions on his life and works, featuring actors from stage and screen and Wodehouse’s own great-grandson.

Coming hot on the heels of the excellent West End play Jeeves & Wooster in Perfect Nonsense, and Sebastian Faulks’s homage novel Jeeves and the Wedding Belles, this will be yet another treat for Wodehouse fans.
