A Walk in the Woods film Q&A with Bill Bryson, Curzon Chelsea
In anticipation of the UK release of A Walk in the Woods, Bill Bryson will discuss this cinematic adaptation of his celebrated memoir at the Curzon Chelsea.
For illuminating insights into Ken Kwapis’ adaptation of A Walk in the Woods, be sure to book your ticket for this special preview of the film on Wednesday 9 September at the Curzon Chelsea, which will be accompanied by a Q&A session with acclaimed travel writer, Bill Bryson. We’re hoping to suss out how Bryson really feels about '70s heartthrob Robert Redford’s portrayal of him on screen.
What’s it about?
Based on Bryson’s memoir, A Walk in the Woods opens with a disillusioned Bill (Robert Redford), who feels disconnected from his homeland after prolonged residence in the UK. In an attempt to stifle his malaise and rediscover his American roots, the author makes the seemingly foolhardy decision to trek the Appalachian Trail, the longest continuous footpath in the world.
Bill’s wife (Emma Thompson) worries for his safety and is relieved to learn that his former companion – recovering alcoholic Katz (Nick Nolte) – will embark upon the expedition with him.
Given its warm reception at Sundance and impressive cast, A Walk in the Woods looks to be an uplifting adventure bursting with quirky characters, and all Bryson's narrative charm.
