We've been Hadley Freeman fans since her fashion articles for The Guardian and Vogue. Known for bringing plenty of wit to fashion and feminism in her columns and best-selling books The Meaning of Sunglasses, A Guide to (Almost) All Things Fashionable,  Be Awesome: Modern Life for Modern Ladies, the New York born writer has now turned her sharp eye to the charm of 80s movies. Hadley Freeman's new book, Life Moves Pretty Fast, is published this May, and to celebrate she will be giving a rare talk at Notting Hill's Lutyens and Rubestein bookshop.

Back in 2012 Hadley Freeman announced on her blog: "I honestly believe that while the 80s may not have produced the best movies, or even the smartest movies, it is the decade that made the most fun movies, and that is why I love them. Genuinely fun movies are awesome and must and shall be celebrated." Now, the best 80s films are collected together and explored in a new book.
Life Moves Pretty Fast: Ferris Beuller and the best of the rest 
This latest is book is just what Freeman suggests, a celebration of an era of cinema. But it also goes beyond nostalgia to draw out the life lessons to be learned from classic rom-coms and action films. With a title taken from John Hughes' comedy Ferris Bueller's Day Off, expect a curated journey through films from Pretty in Pink to Ghostbusters. Freeman will reflect on the contemporary relevance of 80s cinema along with its enduring legacy. Book now for a trip down memory lane, led by a writer who's always eloquent and witty, and will have us all yearning for the days of VCRs.
