5x15: David Baddiel, Marion Coutts, Zoe Williams, Clare Clark, Tim Dowling and John Lanchester

A rare 5x15 Tabernacle event, that's actually a 6x15, with David Baddiel, Marion Coutts, Zoe Williams, Clare Clark, Tim Dowling and John Lanchester telling unscripted true stories of adventure, passion and obsession.

Tim Dowling
The principal of the 5x15 talks shouldn't be too difficult to understand: five high-profile speakers spend fifteen unscripted minutes telling a story, relaying a theory or revealing something about their lives. And yet, seemingly the organisers of this event have become confused, ignoring the very first rule of the 5x15 talks: the number five = five speakers. Instead these masterminds of coordination have provided six speakers for a rare 5x15 event that is now a 6x15 event. But then, understandably, they probably became overexcited by the potential lineup and couldn’t bring themselves to cull it.
5x15: Tabernacle
This one-off event, a ‘blockbuster, bonus track evening featuring six of the brightest and best speakers’ includes ad-lib speeches by David Baddiel, Marion Coutts, Zoe Williams, Clare Clark, Tim Dowling and John Lanchester, laying before the audience their true stories of passion, obsession and adventure.
5x15 London: who are the speakers?
David Baddiel is British comedian, novelist and television presenter known for his partnership with Frank Skinner in Baddiel & Skinner Unplanned, and for Fantasy Football League and The Infidel.
Marion Coutts is an artist and writer, who has exhibited nationally and internationally including solo shows at Foksal Gallery and The Wellcome Collection, London. She is a lecturer in Art at Goldsmiths College.
Zoe Williams is a humorous, left-wing feminist English journalist and author who, as well as writing for countless papers, is a regular columnist at the Guardian.
Williams is joined on stage by her colleague, the Guardian columnist Tim Dowling, who writes in about his ‘funny wife’ in his weekend column and who recently published his book How to be a Model Husband.
Clare Clark is the award-winning author of four critically acclaimed novels: The Great Stink, The Nature of Monsters, Savage Lands and her latest title Beautiful Lies. She is also a regular contributor to the Guardian literary pages, reviewing both fiction and non-fiction.
The final speaker is (prepare for a shock) the Guardian writer, John Lanchester. He is also an award-winning novelist whose book The Dept to Pleasure won the 1996 Whitbread Book Award in the First Novel category and the 1997 Hawthornden Prize. As well as four novels, Lanchester is also the author of four non-fiction books.
Expect an evening of strong opinions, literary debate and quick humour with six of the funniest and writers, artists (and speakers) around.
