You Have Been Upgraded, Science Museum
If you could 'upgrade' yourself, what would you do? Bionic arm? Super speed? Invisibility? The Science Museum, London invites visitors to the You Have Been Upgraded festival to answer that question. It's all very Blade Runner and Ex Machina, but for technology nuts this is a fun event in London that families in particular will enjoy.

Take a leap into the future where a new mega-company called Unlimited Enhancement Technologies (UNET) has biotechnologists that can radically change human life. Along with the Unlimited Theatre company, the London Science Museum lets visitors try out all the latest technologists in this new world, from high-tech prosthetics to brain enhancers, before the CEO of UNET gives a rousing speech to lure workers into the company.

Artist Sophie de Oliveira Barata's Alternative Limb Project is unnerving, with a provocative interpretation of prosthetics, but you'll enjoy the chance to try out bebionic hands and artificial limbs. Look out for Oxford University neuroscientist Roi Cohen Kadosh as he makes the dream possible - boosting the brain's maths skills, attention and memory with electric currents. The thrilling science continues with Tim Constandinou and Andrew Jackson from Imperial College and Newcastle University bringing the electrical language of our nerves to life as visual images. Science lovers will go into overdrive when they enter the development zone where the most interactive exhibits are. Step into these experimental virtual realities and take a lesson from leading scientists on the building blocks of life.
We're not sure how we feel about humanity upgrading itself, but this festival raises some fascinating questions about very real possibilities in science - and of course it's tremendous fun.
