John Cleese: book tour, Cadogan Hall
Multi-talented actor, comedian and writer John Cleese brings much merriment to Chelsea's Cadogan Hall this Christmas with his So Anyway book tour.
A National Treasure famed for silly walks and snappy gags, John Cleese has been making people laugh for decades. Now, to celebrate the launch of his new book, So Anyway, the comic will hold the court at Cadogan Hall. Discover how he came to comedy and the adventures along the way as the memoir spans childhood to the beginning of comedy success at the age of 30. As his fans would expect there's plenty of juicy insights and amusing anecdotes, but also a darker and more intimate streak as Cleese writes candidly about his mother's depression and his own experience in therapy.
About John Cleese
His comic skills were honed Cambridge University and the Edinburgh Fringe, then employed in sketch-writing for the BBC. A legend was born with the creation of Monty Python: Cleese co-wrote and starred in the cult series, along with three films and the recent Mont Python 'alimony tour' -- dubbed so because the comic needed to raise funds for his divorce settlement. His creativity and distinctive brand of physical comedy was behind another tv hit, Fawlty Towers, before he graduated to the big screen by co-writing and starring in A Fish Called Wanda with Jamie Lee Curtis. Throw some theatre roles, pop-up parts in two Bond films and a whole array of comedy cameos and you have all the makings for an unparalleled career.
In the flesh Cleese towers at 6ft 4 and, true to his height, has plenty of stage presence. At the ripe age of 75 his vitality and infectious joie-de-vivre shows no sign of dwindling.
Tickets cost £30 and include a hardcover copy of So Anyway.
