Two of the world's most intrepid explorers, Jim McNeil and Sir Ranulph Fiennes discuss their fascinating adventures.
Presenter and Polar explorer Jim McNeill established the Ice Warrior project, which equips normal people with the skills to survive a polar expedition, and hosts treks to monitor important issues such as climate change and conservation.
As part of the initiative to raise awareness about the global extremities and unchartered lands, Jim has been interviewing the most prestigious and informed experts, including Sir David Attenborough and Sir Chris Bonington. Now, in an exciting meeting of minds, the adventurer will meet the man that Guinness World Records describes as "the greatest living explorer"
At the ripe age of 70 Sir Ranulph Fiennes has a wealth of unique and fascinating experiences. After eight years in the army he undertook a series of gruelling expeditions , broke the world record to become the first person to explore both the South and North Poles and to cross Antarctica by foot. Oh, and he’s climbed Everest too. When frostbite rendered the fingers on his left hand useless, the endlessly brave Fiennes turned his endurance to a D.I.Y amputation, rather than paying extortionate surgery bills. Unsurprisingly his accounts of these incredible experiences have made for a string of bestselling books. The infectious passion with which Fiennes relays his adventures makes him a charismatic and engaging speaker.
Tickets to the discussion are £20, but we recommend you pay and extra £10 for admittance to the post-interview reception, where you can have a more informal chat with these intriguing explorers.
