TimesTalks with Damian Lewis, Royal Institution
The New York Times is bringing its international series of talks back to London, with a one-off conversation between award-winning actor Damian Lewis and theatre critic Matt Wolf.
After a series of stimulating discussions marking the 2012 Olympics, The New York Times is bringing its international series of talks back to London, with a one-off talk from Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning actor Damian Lewis.
International theatre critic Matt Wolf (who writes for The Guardian, The Artsdesk and the N.Y Times) will join the actor to discuss drama and reflect on a richly diverse career on both stage and screen. A household name thanks to his captivatingly tense portrayal of Nicholas Brody in the gripping series Homeland, Lewis has also impressed on stage with roles in Ibsen, Shakespeare and Moliere. After graduating form Guildhall school of Music and Drama he joined the RSC, before being spotted by Stephen Spielberg and subsequently cast in a breakthrough role in Band of Brothers. Along with stage and television, Lewis is also starring in upcoming Hollywood blockbusters including The Silent Storm and Our Kind Of Traitor. Such high-octane action still comes alongside more classic drama: it’s recently been revealed that Lewis will play Henry VIII in the forthcoming BBC adaptation of Wolf Hall and Bring up the Bodies.
This varied success shows no signs of abating, and will make for a fascinating conversation and an insightful evening.
