Paul Auster, the author of The New York Trilogy, is set to read from 4 3 2 1, his first novel in seven years. The Modernist American writer comes to Senate House library for a literary talk in London.

Auster’s work has often explored multiple identities. Similarly, his recent novel follows the life of a single individual, named Archibald Isaac Ferguson, who leads four independent paths. Four Fergusons, four parallel – yet divergent – lives. In 4 3 2 1, the writer and director continues to investigate selfhood and personal meaning by blending fantasy and reality, as he has so eloquently done in the past.

Compared to the enduring success of The New York Trilogy Auster's long-anticipated new novel has been published to mixed reviews. But for fans for the famously inventive writer, it's a rare chance to hear first-hand about the creative process.
