DG Paints the Tate, talk with Tricia Guild, Designers Guild
An insight into colour in Hockney's art at this talk by Head of Displays at Tate Britain, Chris Stephens, and Tricia Guild of Designers Guild
David Hockney, one of the most popular and influential artists of the 20th century, currently has an exhibition at Tate Britain. Join Tricia Guild, of paint and colour scheme specialists Designers Guild, and the Head of Displays at Tate Britain, Chris Stephens – curator of the Hockney exhibition – for a one-off event focusing on colour in the artist's work, and colour schemes to display them.
The talk will be on Hockney's mastery of colour and the staging of the exhibition, and there will also be a discussion on how and why Hockney and the Tate curators chose the five shades of Designers Guild paint that make up the colour backdrop for the exhibition.
Chris Stephens will be signing copies of the new book he has co-authored on Hockney's works. The books will be available at a 10 per cent discount.
