Floral Street x Van Gogh Museum Collaboration | Sunflower Pop: where fine art and fragrance meet
Embrace the joyous energy of the sunflower with the new luxury scent, prints and fashion that will certainly give you a sunny disposition for summer
Oh, the joy of the sunflower: the gigantic bloom is a guaranteed mood-booster, and the sight of their sunny faces is the signal that summer is firmly here. Perhaps their bright disposition and portrayal of eternal optimism are why we love the genus Helianthus so much.
They tick plenty of wellness boxes, too: the superfood seeds sprinkled on our favourite salad and the extracted oil that can nourish skin and hair. They're even a gardener's plant of choice to detoxify the soil around them. But it's aesthetically speaking that sunflowers bring the most cheer.
Undoubtedly, that's why they have clocked up over eight million posts on Instagram and have been the inspiration for countless fashion collections: think designers such as Dolce & Gabbana and Alaïa to street star brands like Converse, cool and quirky interiors companies, and art. From the iconic masterpieces of Vincent van Gogh, the brush-stroke bouquets of Sunflowers that are instantly recognisable and still reign supreme over a century later, to the shelfie-appealing prints you can buy now.
Michelle Feeney, founder of the British sustainable fragrance house Floral Street has teamed up with the Van Gogh Museum to bring the art of sunflowers and fine fragrance together in one eco-friendly and sustainable way. Sunflower Pop from £24, is a clean-formula fragrance inspired by nature.
Feeney says: 'I'm honoured that Floral Street has been chosen as the first fragrance brand to partner with the Van Gogh Museum. Drawing inspiration from Vincent van Gogh's timeless masterpieces, we discovered a shared love of nature and finding beauty in the everyday. Through this collaboration, we are able to tell our story in a new way, in which the beauty of art and fragrance meet.'
Floral Street's Sunflower Pop will feature notes of bergamot, a Bellini accord, and a touch of vegan honey in a vibrant, citrus-centric spritz. It will give the wearer a sense of 'optimism' – just as Van Gogh envisioned from his palette all those years ago. And the artist's print will not only adorn the outer packaging but the bottle itself which comes in a biodegradable pulp carton.
The poet Rupi Kaur once said, 'Despite knowing they won't be here for long, they still choose to live their brightest lives – sunflowers.'
Isn't that something we can all learn from? Whether captured in a bottle, spritzed onto skin, printed onto fabric, or worn as a talisman, sunflowers may help us present our most positive selves…
