Far, Far Away: Mozart in the Garden, Aurora Orchestra, Kings Place
A magical, musical adventure for under-fives that adults will also find irresistible
Let Aurora Orchestra lead you down the garden path in a series of magical musical adventures for babies, toddlers and pre-school children, in the company of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The composer's child-like delight sparkles through his music, and children have a special affinity with its entrancing melodies. Add to that the sounds of the mysterious flute, captivating harp and searching cello, and you enter a world of make-believe in sound.
As part of Aurora's Far, Far Away series of musical encounters for children, Mozart in the Garden spins a tale with the help of the orchestra's writer-in-residence and poet Kate Wakeling.
But this is not a concert for just sitting back and listening. Youngsters will be singing, dancing and discovering a musical world through play. Be ready to look through the lavender, wiggle with the worms and nod off into dreamland with a twinkling firefly in this musical garden.
New arrangements for flute, harp and cello of Mozart’s radiant music feature extracts from the lively Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, the uplifting Clarinet Quintet, the light-footed Concerto for flute and harp and other landmark works.
And there is sure to be a thing or two for adults to learn from the response of tiny children to this timeless music. Concert-going may never be the same again...
