A Masterclass with Amanda Roocroft, Pushkin House
The acclaimed soprano Amanda Roocroft, known for her performances in Mozart, Strauss and Verdi, leads an intimate masterclass with three rising stars from Opera Holland Park's Young Artists.
Lyric soprano Amanda Roocroft has been at the summit of the international opera world for more than two decades. Now, you have the chance to see her in action. On 12 February, Pushkin House offers opera enthusiasts a rare opportunity to see Roocroft lead an intimate masterclass for three outstanding young opera singers, all participants in Opera Holland Park’s celebrated Young Artists Scheme.
The three recipients of the masterclass are Claire Lees, Samuel Oram and Tom Mole. Claire is a Samling Artist and recipient of an Independent Opera Voice Scholarship and Fellowship. Samuel and Tom are current students of the Welsh International Academy of Voice and Guildhall School of Music & Drama respectively. Together with the other Holland Park Young Artists, they will perform in Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera this summer.
After winning the Kathleen Ferrier award as a student in 1988, Amanda Roocroft rose to prominence with roles in operas by Strauss, Mozart and Handel. She has been a star on the biggest stages in London and New York and voice professor at the Royal College of Music, as well as holding other prestigious roles as pedagogue.
