Wizarding Wardrobes, Warner Bros. Studio
Stitch witchery: witness the incredible costumes of Harry Potter at Warner Bros. Studio
Always wanted to twirl around in Fleur Delacour’s periwinkle cape, sport
Horace Slughorn’s silk pajamas, or try on the Sorting Hat yourself? Wizarding Wardrobes at Warner Bros.
Studio has you sorted – well, almost.
The staggering 25,000 unique handmade garments created for the Harry Potter series are, unfortunately, too precious to wear. Nevertheless, you can gawp and gaze at a new display, which showcases some of the franchise’s most incredible couture costumes. Hermione’s pink and perfect Yule Ball gown is on display, as is a myriad wizard’s hats in all shapes, sizes, and colours that once dressed the heads of shoppers in Diagon Alley.
Wizarding Wardrobes is as much about the painstaking process of designing and creating these costumes as it is about the finished garments themselves. The exhibition takes you on a journey through the costuming of one of the wizarding world’s best-loved characters: Albus Dumbledore. From preliminary character sketches, to the first cuts of cloth, to the final sweeping and brocaded ensemble: find out the painstaking process behind his iconic looks.
Last but not least, Wizarding Wardrobes goes under the skin of the Harry Potter universe. The exhibition boasts a brand-new makeup and prosthetics display. Come prepared to face gruesomely realistic trolls, house elves, dementors – and, perhaps, even the Dark Lord himself.
Hold on to your hats: this exhibition is a must-see for serious fans. And what better way to mark the twentieth anniversary of the publication of the Harry Potter books?
