The Girl and the Giraffe, Polka Theatre
The new show at the Polka Theatre offers a touching portrait of friendship between a girl and a giraffe
There's a new feat of puppeteering on show at the children's Polka Theatre in Wimbledon this May half term.
Sickly Giraffe is spotted by the inquisitive neighbour, the Girl. She tries everything she can think of to help make her adorable pal feel better, but it seems that nothing – from medicine to cake – can help. The Girl and the audience members learn that when we're sad sometimes we need different kinds of sticking plasters.
Two companies, Half Moon and Floods of Ink, have teamed up to create this piece of magical storytelling, one that promises to interweave narratives of friendship and understanding in a nuanced portrait of mental health issues.
Recommended for ages 3-6.
