Tate Kids Website Launch
The Tate kids' art website has just gone live: Take a look at all the exciting content with your little Picassos
Are your kids always bringing home drawings of pretty houses and rather unflattering depictions of you? Maybe they like to get artsy craftsy with paint all over your kitchen. Well now you can nurture that artistic temperament thanks to the Tate's new website – launched with proto-Picassos in mind.
Whether you have a future Jackson Pollock or the winner of the Turner Prize 2047 on your hands, this new website has everything to keep your little ones entertained and get them inspired.
You can play games such as Arts Parts, where they will need to use their vivid imaginations to fill in the missing gaps of some of the world's most recognisable paintings. They can also take part in quizzes such as 'Which artist should design your bedroom?' They could get a pop-art makeover or perhaps their destiny will lie within the surrealist movement. All content is highly educational, giving your kids the best insight into the art world while keeping them entertained on weekends and during school holidays.
Tate has ensured that art history is not dreary – and that means no boring adults allowed. Kids will be able to learn about everything arty from their own peers. They will be able to watch videos featuring young critics discussing famous artists and movements. If that's not enough your kid can get involved by sharing their own work with other young artists in the Tate kids online gallery. It's a case of be inspired and inspire.
The site is a friendly space to learn, and have all the freedom a budding artist requires – but with strong safety controls in place. Parents, you still call the shots.
It's important to encourage the young generation to take up art – so with the backing of one of the world's leading cultural institutions, you can be sure that a first-class approach to art education will be at the very heart of this project.
