Bring your thickest socks, sturdiest sea legs and your largest smiles: London's Puppet Barge in Little Venice is back this new year for the opening of Joey's Fireworks, the latest family show from puppet company Movingstage.
The cosy little theatre floating in a brightly coloured barge on the river is the perfect Victorian setting for a Punch and Judy. This new year, Mr Punch is back and ready to rile audiences in his original form as a string puppet.
Mr Punch first arrived on our shores as a string puppet, and eventually turned himself into a glove puppet 'to protect himself'. Unfortunately, not much else about Punch has reformed over the years, and he's as naughty and hilarious as he ever was.
Get ready for a puppet show of two halves, as Joey visits Mr and Mrs Punch and loses their laundry on the way to Big Ben before Mr Punch is chased by the Beadle and New Year is celebrated under a starry sky.
