The Imaginarium of Alice & Flamingo Croquet, Imagine Children's Festival, Southbank Centre
Looking for fun half term activities? Wonderland comes to the South Bank as part of the Imagine Children's Festival, 2015.
Journey through the looking glass for an adventure into the fantastical world of Alice’s Imaginarium. To celebrate 150 years since the publication of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, choreographers Average Height Ladies have created an interactive performance-trail designed to transport children and adults to the bizarre and nonsensical realm of wonderland. Expect a colourful and multi-sensory experience with dance, music, creative design and multimedia interactive technologies.
And if you are looking for free attractions in London for kids, foolhardy children can challenge the Queen of Hearts to a game of Flamingo croquet in the Cloakroom Lobby. Here is a preview (in Lewis Carroll’s words) of what the pitch will look like: ‘it was all ridges and furrows; the balls were live hedgehogs, the mallets live flamingos, and the soldiers had to double themselves up and to stand on their hands and feet, to make the arches’.
Alice's Imaginarium runs from February 20-22. Children much be accompanied by an adult (tickets cost £4 and £8 respectively).
Flamingo Croquet is available from February 9-22 and is free.
Suitable for ages 8+
