Fresh from its adaptation of the Moomins, Polka Theatre brings Jeff Brown’s Flat Stanley to life this October.
When Stanley Lambchop is flattened during the night he has to get on and make the most of his new dimensions – 4 foot tall, a foot wide, and half an inch thick. He discovers a whole new realm of possibilities, his favourite is visiting his friends by being posted to their house in an envelope.
Mike Kenny has adapted Brown’s story for the stage, having worked extensively in youth theatre, most notably his 2008 adaptation of The Railway Children at the National Railway Museum in York. Music is provided by Julian Butler, who recently worked on the scores for Charlie and Lola’s Extremely New Play, and the adaptation of Gorilla, written by ex-Children’s Laureate Anthony Browne, at Polka last year.
Flat Stanley is suitable for ages 5 to 10 although All Ages Welcome performances are available, contact the Box Office on 020 8543 4888 for more information.
