A Midsummer Night's Dream, Southbank Centre
Part of their Festival of Love, The Southbank Centre reinvents A Midsummer Night’s Dream in this audience-based performance developed by Moving Stories.
As part of their two month long Festival of Love , The Southbank Centre is bringing this unique performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream to their Riverside Terrace, or rather, you are.
The abridged version of Shakespeare’s classic has been developed by theatre and event makers, Moving Stories , who focus on engaging their audiences in immersive theatre. The performance will be the result of four Dream related workshops running throughout the day, incorporating dance, theatre and classical music. These include Titania’s Fairy Dance Workshop and A Midsummer Night’s Big Sing , where audience members can learn the finale routine and song ready to perform later in the afternoon.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a romantic comedy perfect for ardent Shakespearean fans, complete newcomers or those with their own brood of Pucks and Peaseblossoms. All of the workshops, and the performance itself, are free as the Southbank invites everyone to enter this magical world of romance during their Eros and Ludus Weekend .
The actual performance will last for 30 minutes with an open group rehearsal at 4pm. However, there is no requirement to be actively involved if you would rather just relax and watch the mischief unfold!
