Family Activities, Grant Museum of Zoology

The Grant Museum of Zoology is a great place to take any budding naturalist who longs to get up close and personal with the kind of specimens they may have viewed from behind glass at the likes of the Natural History Museum. This year the museum will host free family drop-in sessions during both the summer and the new term, at which your child can talk to expert educators and find out everything they wanted to know about their favourite insects, reptiles, birds and mammals.

First up is Weird and Wonderful Wildlife, running from 29th July to 2nd August. The interactive drop-in sessions will focus on the more unusual citizens of the natural world. Curious children will have the chance to come face to face with the likes of flying lizards, giant starfish, duck-billed platypuses, thorny devils and spiny anteaters.

After summer the fun continues with monthly Explore Zoology sessions, giving the family further opportunities to uncover the curious treasures from within the depths of the museum. Activities are hands-on and centre on real museum specimens, so expect some unique experiences and memorable moments.
