The Tiger Who Came to Tea, Lyric Theatre
Judith Kerr's loveable children's story, The Tiger who Came to Tea, will be brought to life this summer at the Lyric Theatre. The play promises plenty of musical energy and playful charm as a surprise visitor caused mayhem at tea time. Children will delight in seeing the tiger munch his way through the house and drink all the water from the taps.
Susie Caulcutt's ingenious set and costume design pays careful homage to the iconic illustrations of Kerr's original story, and Peter Ponzten ensures that the words as well as the pictures are brought to life in every song. This dramatised tale made its theatrical debut in 2011 when the book  was adapted for the stage by  David Wood  OBE. Wood's rendering became an instant classic, receiving a flurry of praise and scooping a nomination for  Best Entertainment and Family at the 2012 Olivier Awards .
The show is suitable for children over the age of three, making it a perfect way to engage and entertain little ones. And, like all Wood's productions, the show is sure to charm adults just as much. We can't wait to welcome the opening of this musical spectacular, which we know will have parents and children alike singing along with some of their beloved characters.
