Little ones get crafty outdoors at The Foundling Museum and our favourite exhibition of the summer

The Foundling Museum: family activities
FOUND at the Foundling Museum was our favourite exhibition of this summer. Curated by Cornelia Parker (she of the exploding sheds), the collection features precious objects found and kept by over sixty of the biggest names in art.

Inspired by the Foundling Museum's history as an institution for abandoned children, in particular the tokens left by mothers as a means of identifying their baby should she ever return for them, this moving and curious collection speaks to the magpie impulse shared by all -- especially children.

This August bank holiday, the Museum invites families to bring a small object found by little ones to this hands-on family workshop, where kids learn to create a black and white photogram.

Using graphite, kids make a drawing and then work outside in the August sunshine to produce a photo of their chosen object, using light sensitive paper and the sun.

We recommend taking them around the exhibition afterwards, to see what things artists like them thought were precious.

Suitable for ages 5 and up. Sign up on the day to receive a place.
