CircusFest 2016

Extraordinary circus performances from international and UK circus performers returns to the RoundHouse this Easter

Race Horse Company, RoundHouse

A wheel of death, a human catapult and jaw-dropping acrobatics: CircusFest 2016 is back in town for three weeks this Easter holidays, with a programme of high-flying international and UK contemporary circus act.

Among the collection of award-winning shows on at the Roundhouse, our hot-ticket top-tip is for Barely Methodical Troupe ('Britain's hottest circus company') and their brand new production, running from the 20th-24th April. Culture Whisper first fell in love with the troupe's director and choreographer Ben Duke following his five-star dance production of Paradise Lost at the Bush Theatre last year. And it's another ★★★★★ for Kin, a spectacular combination of BMT's fragile and fearless acrobatics with Ben Duke's subtle story-telling. With three new members on board, including their only female acrobat, BMT again prove themselves masters of bromantic wit.

Other highlights include the Finnish Race Horse Company and their wheel of death - which Culture Whisper can confirm is a hugely loveable and frightening display of acrobatics and male muscles - in equal measure.

We also recommend Take Part Weekend, featuring acrobatic and street dance workshops; Ricochet Smoke and Mirrors, a New Mexico circus duo combining aerial acrobatics with storytelling and the Transfiguration exhibition, a free exhibition by photographer Ben Hopper featuring images of circus artists contorted into abstract shapes.

Throughout there are also performances across London, at Jackson's Lane, ArtsDepot and The Albany. Click here for the full line up of events, pick your favourites, and get ready to see something amazing.
