World Ballet Day 2019 Live Stream

World Ballet Day 2019 repeats the roaring success of previous years, when balletomanes the world over sat glued to their screens to watch all things ballet in a live stream on Facebook and YouTube.

An annual celebration of ballet, World Ballet Day has been going from strength to strength since 2014, and is a collaboration between major ballet companies from around the world. Last year it reached 313 million users, with the hashtag #WorldBalletDay trending on Twitter.


Among the 31 companies taking part this year are Australian Ballet, Moscow’s Bolshoi Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada, San Francisco Ballet, and Britain’s own The Royal Ballet, which is the lead co-producer.

Following the international clock, all will show classes – the beginning of every dancer’s day, from the lowliest member of the corps de ballet to the highest star – rehearsals, clips of performances, interviews and expert insights.

In addition, each company has its own specific in situ programme, under World Ballet Day 2019’s theme, Every Body Can Dance.

The Royal Ballet has a busy immersive programme of daytime events at the Royal Opera House, some free, some ticketed. Among them are: Ballet Dots, an introductory ballet class for toddlers aged from 12 months to two-and-a-half years; Live at Lunch, a drop-in free dance performance; and Dance With the Royal Ballet, a workshop for schoolchildren aged 12 upwards, led by Royal Ballet First Artist Nathalie Harrison.

For World Ballet Day 2019 The Royal Ballet is partnering with the mental health charity Mind to highlight the importance of managing good mental health at an elite performance level. Royal Ballet stars will join forces with elite athletes, including Dame Kelly Holmes, cricketer Mark Ramprakash and former footballer Tony Adams.
