The Lost Estate presents The Greatest Night of the Jazz Age
Final extension until 24 September 2023
Immersive entertainment experts The Lost Estate present an all-new, multi-sensory experience fusing 30s jazz with fine dining, set in a Manhattan speakeasy
At Christmas, they delivered us The Great Christmas Feast in honour of Charles Dickens' famous festive novella. Before that, it was Sherlock Holmes and The Hound Of the Baskervilles. If there's one thing we know immersive connoisseurs The Lost Estate do par excellence, it's transforming the greatest tales ever told into experiential masterpieces. So it’s no wonder we were first in the queue for a night of 'wild dancing', 'hot jazz', 'prohibition cocktails' and 'Manhattan feasting' as they present The Greatest Night of the Jazz Age, an outrageous true story from the height of Prohibition.
Set in 1930, and specifically at Manhattan's shortest-lived super-speakeasy, The 58th Street Country Club, the plot – for there's always a storyline to Lost Estate experiences – follows one-time socialite, showgirl and Moonshine entrepreneur Belle Livingstone (Suanne Braun), as she opens her last and most debaucherous nightclub, only to have it raided by federal agents and permanently shut down just hours after it opens.
Joining Braun on stage is Ayesha Pike (Ronnie Scott’s, 606, Vortex) as The Singer and an ensemble of dancers choreographed by director Eleesha Drennan (Studio Wayne McGregor, National Dance Wales). At the heart of the evening sits the music, a sizzling soundtrack of 1930s classics, performed by The 58th Street’s House Band and led by star horn player Rory Simmons (bandleader for Jamie Cullum, Blur).
Dining is as much a part of The Lost Estate's experiences as performance, and with king of the coals Ashley Clarke (Gordon Ramsey Group, SmokeStak, Temper Soho) in charge of a New York Smokehouse-inspired menu, you can expect a feast to fantasise about long after you've savoured the final mouthful. We're talking Park Avenue Salmon with Truffle Cornbread; Lenox Avenue Surf'n'Turf; and Grand Central Apple Pie with Bourbon Caramel and Iices, plus alternatives on every course for veggies, vegans, and allergies. A cocktail list of prohibition classics will wash it all down and get you in the dancing spirit.
The experience has now been extended for the final time until 24th September 2023, but hurry these tickets won't last long.
Tuesday – Sunday evenings in July & September
Thursday - Sunday evenings in August
(Doors from 6pm, live performance begins at 7.30pm)
