The Great Murder Mystery opened by The Lost Estate
Purveyors of immersive theatre and dining experiences The Lost Estate are back with their Sherlock Holmes detective experience: The Great Murder Mystery
From the frosty cheer of a Victorian Christmas to the sultry corners of a Manhattan jazz club, the Lost Estate are London's proprietors of transportive, immersive experiences. Fusing theatre, live music and fine dining, their events offer a break from reality and a passport into bygone revelry. It's good news for any fans of slipping into costume and heading into another world because one of their signature experiences, The Great Murder Mystery, has been given a spruce, and it's returning for 2024.
The Lost Estate presents The Great Murder Mystery
Based on Arthur Conan Doyle's classic Sherlock Holmes novel, The Hound Of The Baskervilles, the experience takes its amateur sleuths back to 1889, when rumour has it there's a demon hound stalking the streets of London. Placed in the role of a press pack, punters will be sent directly to a crisis press conference at 221B Baker Street, where Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson are about to reveal some dark truths. The chilling secrets of Baskerville Hall are placed on the table, too – but if this is starting to sound a tad serious, don't worry: you'll find your tipple of choice in Mrs Hudson’s liquor cabinet to steel yourself for what's coming next.

The one-of-a-kind experience is being directed by The Lost Estate regular, Simon Pittman (of RSC and National Theatre acclaim), and is being brought to life by a cast of actors and musicians.
The Lost Estate presents The Great Murder Mystery
The Great Murder Mystery is transforming a 5,000 sq ft venue in West Kensington, where the cuisine will play just as big a role as the drama. Behind the stoves is The Lost Estate's executive chef, Ashley Clarke, who built his reputation at the Gordon Ramsay Group and leading open-fire cooking restaurants SmokeStak and Temper Soho. He's since become a master at creating multi-course feasts that speak of the show's era. So for The Untold Story of the Hound Of The Baskervilles, it's a culinary trip to Victorian England, where a decadent three-course menu riffs on dishes served at the fictional detective's favourite restaurants. There's posh ham and eggs to start (think duck ham, confit egg yolk, ham crisps and pickled blackberries); a main of spring chicken with truffle mouse, garden salad vegetables and potatoes; and a dessert of Devonshire tart with black sesame and strawberry compôte, and Champagne sorbet. The vegetarian and vegan menu sounds just as scrumptious. We're talking asparagus, black truffle arancini with smoked garlic and chive cream sauce, and a hand-made burrata and truffle tortellini with romaine chargrilled artichokes and sun-dried tomatoes.
Mrs Hudson’s cocktails, too, pay close attention to the history books, so look forward to contemporary takes on Victorian classics.
The Lost Estate's events promise for an unforgettable evening, great for those looking for a more exciting night out in London. Their latest phenomenon sounds perfect for those who can't decide between decadent drinks, a fancy dinner, theatre or live music.
So, are you ready for the truth about the Baskerville affair?
