What do you get when you cross a music festival with a Neoclassical palace? Somerset House's Summer Series of outdoor gigs brings eclectic lineup that's sure to attract the cool crowd to its elegant courtyard.

This annual series is definitely the bell of the ball in the UK's festival scene, inviting music lovers to experience world class gigs with a spectacular backdrop. This July, 11 acts will perform in a week of refined raving with genre-mashing sounds ranging from avant-jazz to futuristic flamenco.

The Internet, 11 July -book now



The season opens with a bang with The Internet, a Los Angeles band whose sound has been described as a melodious blend of R&B, hip hop, jazz, funk, and electronic dance music. Founded in 2011 by Odd Future members Syd and Matt Martians, the group have released four studio albums, including the Grammy-nominated Ego Death and their latest album Hive Mind, which gifts summer playlists with chilled beats, funky baselines and silky vocals in songs such as ‘Roll’ and 'Come Over'.

Nao, 12 July



She garnered attention as a vocalist on Disclosure's number one album Caracal, but East London's Neo Jessica Joshua, aka. Nao, has since made a name for herself as a solo artist with critically acclaimed albums including For All We Know and Saturn. The BRIT and MOBO-nominated artist coined the term 'wonky funk' to describe her style. No doubt watching her reach stratospheric notes in songs such as 'Orbit' will be a spine-tingling experience.

Jacob Banks, 14 July



UK music is witnessing a flourishing of Nigerian artists at present. Nigerian-born Jacob Banks moved to Birmingham at the age of 13 and broke onto the scene in his early 20s with his throaty, baritone voice. He has supported major artists including Alicia Keys and Emeli Sandé and his first solo album, Village, is packed with richly textured songs like ‘Slow Up’ and 'Unknown To You’.

Rosalía, 15 July



Rosalía is perhaps the most fitting act in a week that combines cutting-edge music with a dash of history. This Spanish pop-star has achieved international fame for reinventing traditional flamenco music and updating it with modern twists. Her single ‘Malamente’ has clocked over 60 million views on YouTube and her album El Mal Querer won two Latin Grammys last year. Experience a fiesta with finesse through this Spanish songtress.

Parcels, 18 July -



This Berlin-based Australian group seems to hail from the 70s with its members sporting luscious locks and formidable fringes – and they have a sound to match. Combining funky Nile Rodgers-esque guitars with synth pop sounds, we can count on Parcels to bring some beach-side vibes to a balmy summer evening.

Cut Copy, 19 July



Founded in 2001 by songwriter, producer, and DJ Dan Whitford, over the past two decades Cut Copy has become a cult sensation with alternative dance hits such as 'Lights & Music', 'Hearts on Fire' and 'Take Me Over'. In their first performance in the UK since 2014, this Melbourne group is sure to have the crowd cutting some serious shapes.
