The golden age of Indie is over. Long gone are the days of pointy shoes and twee waistcoats, with Razorlight’s Johnny Borrell desperately clinging on with a saxophonic solo career and members of The Rakes staffing various fast food shops around London. But there are some Indie bands who have pioneered and survived: Two Door Cinema Club for example.
Although starting late in the game, this Irish trio (and illusive sessionist drummer) were an immediate hit and toured the UK with their first album Tourist History. The success didn’t stop: their sound proved enormously popular on American soil, granting them the honour of playing stateside mega-festivals Lollapalooza and Coachella.
Ever since The Beatles managed it, breaking America pretty much solidifies your career. Two successful albums later, Alex, Sam and Kevin may be willing to agree. And so would the booking team at London’s gargantuan O2 Arena.
'It feels like a huge achievement… It will be the biggest moment of our career so far' gushes guitarist Sam Halliday. With the imminent release of their new EP The Changing of the Seasons joining the ever-expanding set list, fans will hear new material as well as the chart-topping hits that excitedly transported them to Greenwich.
