Ben Folds and Orchestra
90s wunderkind Ben Folds premieres his new piano concerto, accompanied by full orchestra...
Multi-platinum selling singer-songwriter, pianist and composer Ben Folds is performing the European debut of his new piano concerto in a special concert at the Barbican. Best known as the leader of Ben Folds Five, the American artist has cemented his place in musical history as a game-changer of the 90s music scene. Influenced by piano men such as Billy Joel and Elton John, Folds revived power-pop in a decade when grunge and underground rap movements were the music du jour. The now 47-year-old singer performs his balladic compositions with full orchestras, which serve to enhance the epic nature of his compositions.
The Ben Folds Orchestra Experience at the Barbican will feature the Heritage Orchestra accompanying the North Carolina native, performing hits from his extensive musical collection as well as new work.
